What is Dermal Rolling?

Dermal rolling, also known as microneedling, is a skincare technique that involves rolling a device covered in tiny, fine needles across your skin. It might sound a bit intimidating, but the benefits are worth it.

Improved Absorption of Skincare Products:

One of the most significant advantages of at-home dermal rolling is that it enhances the absorption of your skincare products. Those tiny, painless needles create microchannels in your skin, allowing your serums and creams to penetrate deeper and work their magic more effectively.

Boosted Collagen Production:

Collagen is the secret to youthful skin, and dermal rolling can help stimulate its production. When you roll those tiny needles across your skin, it triggers your body's natural collagen production, which means firmer, plumper skin.

Smoother, More Radiant Complexion:
Regular dermal rolling can help improve the texture and radiance of your skin. It's particularly beneficial for reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars, giving you a smoother and more even complexion.

Personalised Skincare Routine:
At-home dermal rolling allows you to tailor your skincare routine to your needs. You can focus on specific areas that require attention and use the products that work best for your skin type.

Tips for Safe At-Home Dermal Rolling:
Ensure your dermal roller is clean and sanitised before each use.
Follow a gentle but firm rolling technique.
Use the right skincare products suitable for post-dermal rolling care.

At-home dermal rolling is a fantastic addition to your skincare routine. With its proven benefits, you can enjoy improved product absorption, boosted collagen production, and a smoother complexion right in the comfort of your home. Plus, it's cost-effective and gives you full control over your skincare journey. So, roll your way to glowing, youthful skin, and embrace the beauty of at-home dermal rolling!

Here's how you can incorporate dermal rolling at home with your Dermatech skincare:
Double cleanse with your favourite Dermatech cleanser. By double cleansing you're ensuring that all your makeup is removed.
Unpack your dermal roller, and follow the instructions in the box. If you tend to have sensitive skin, perform this lightly, and you can even do less, until your skin adjusts.

After completion or rolling, apply your C15 Serum. This will feel warm, but that sensation should calm after 5 minutes. If your face still feels quite hot after this time, holding a cold compress to the affected areas.

Finally, apply your regular Dermatech moisturiser.

Generally, we'd recommend doing this at night time, as you can become a bit red. If you dare to try it during the day, always apply Dermablock 30+ to protect your skin.

  • Help Penetration of Skin Products

Many active skin care ranges are dependent on their therapeutic nutrients penetrating through the natural barrier put up by the skin. With needling, after application, penetration through the top layers of the skin is much easier with claims that the topical application can penetrate up to 4000% more than by just leaving it on the skin.

Care has to be exercised because of the increased penetration and it is advisable to start with a lower percentage of active products.

Do not experiment and always ask your practitioner prior to use as to what actives you can use.

Needling is commonly used in reducing the appearance of fine wrinkling/aged skin. It helps reduce the appearance of stretch marks and scars, including trauma, dog bite, surgical, acne, ice-pick and chicken pox scars. It can be used in all areas of the body and is safe on all skin types including darker skins.

We recommend using the Dermatech C15 Serum with the Dermal Roller.
